OUR VILLAGE

``Karla’s Village`` is a family ranching business, acting with respect to the values and the welfare of our herd.
The years of experience effectively combined with scientific knowledge for the benefit of both animals and consumers. Our main characteristic is our love for animals and respect for their rights.
That is why our animals graze freely in the pastures that extend beyond the boundaries of Lake Karla, up to the peaks of western Pelion.

OUR REGION & CLIMATE

The farm is located in Metochi valley, near the village Kanalia, Magnesia. The climate of the region is rather difficult for the living of the herd. At winter the temperature drops below 10oC at night, the weather is rainy and sometimes it may snow. At summer, we have higher average temperatures with a little rainfall, while autumn is milder, with good temperatures and some rain that usually helps the development of the grass. At spring, we have the perfect landscape for the grazing animals, as all nature sprouts and the grass, the flowers, the herbs and the aromatic plants are in abundance.

OUR LAND

Our animals graze freely from the boundaries of the lake Karla up the slopes of western Pelion most hours of the day, having the opportunity to feed on the numerous herbs and aromatic plants of our land, details of which go directly into the milk making it unique.
Although annually our pastures are not very productive in terms of the amount of forage material, but they are the richest in biodiversity.

OUR PROTAGONISTS

Our animals are mainly fed through grazing, but when the weather conditions are bad, we additionally feed them with corn and organic wheat in an effort to create a proper diet for them, depending each time on the animal’s stage of growth (pregnancy period, lactate period).

OUR MAIN FOCUS

Particular emphasis is placed on animal welfare mainly when in stable. We try to maintain. Our way we collect milk is mechanical. Then the milk is filtered and cooled immediately, in order to achieve optimum quality.

FARMLAND

The farm covers a total area of 3000 square meters, of which 200sq.m covers the milking area and storage of the product. 800m² cover the general feed storage areas, and the rest is facilities that meet the strictest European standards for optimal animal growth.

THE RESULTS

Soon we will start to produce kefir yogurt from goat's milk, a product rich in probiotics with great taste. Among the immediate targets is to produce goat cheese in slices for toast. All products are organic and the quality control GOUNARI analysis laboratory.
